Somebody: diary of troubled minds and bodies under siege
Sofia Pinni
“Somebody” consists of a shared journal containing the stories of people fighting and struggling with eating disorders and body image. Their stories and their battles are different and all their diversities must be told to people who do not have a direct and complete understanding of their condition.  The content of this diary is mostly an unfiltered transcription of the honest responses that 58 people gave to an anonymous survey. They have told their story with the aim of being listened to and helped to eradicate the stigma surrounding eating disorders. What is apparent to our eyes does not always reveal the truth, for it should be borne in mind that eating disorders are a mental illness that does not always manifest itself outwardly and is often hidden with shame by those who suffer from them.

This journal is an experimental font specimen that presents creatively the fonts Stan Pro, designed by Maurice Göldner, and Monitor Pro, by Fred Smeijers. The former is used to transcribe and give expressiveness to the answers people gave to the questionnaire, taking advantage of the excellent readability of the font and showing it by experimenting with different weights, widths and styles; the latter is used in the pages where the author intervenes as narrator to explain technically the context and content of the chapter, as well as some data concerning the statistics resulting from the questionnaire.
